Biography of the Artist:

I was always drawing—art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.

  • 1974 – I started painting and did my first piece, a seascape at Jervis Bay. It sold immediately after a buyer showed interest.
  • 1977 – I began painting more seriously, teaching myself along the way. I entered an art competition at the Blacktown Show, where I won 2nd prize. That’s when I knew I loved painting.
  • 1978 – I explored printmaking and painting alongside the artist Pamela Griffiths in her studio.
  • 1980 – While working as a draftsman, I met someone who knew Norman Lindsay. Impressed by this, they encouraged me to attend the Julian Ashton Art School. With part-time work being scarce due to the recession, I enrolled as a part-time student.
During this period, I sold paintings to a few doctors and studied at a studio in Balmain.
  • 1982 – I started drawing at Brett Whiteley’s studio, working with models and continuing to refine my painting and drawing skills.
  • 1990 – I organised a 3-man exhibition at the Palmer Street Gallery in Kings Cross, where I sold several of my paintings.
  • 1992 – I returned to printmaking at a studio in Annandale.
  • 2010 – I exhibited at the Barry Stern Gallery in Paddington, selling five major works for $2,000 each.
  • 2024 – I have now fully committed to being a full-time artist. My current passion is Abstract Expressionism, and I spend most days painting for up to eight hours, experimenting and exploring what paint can do.

I love sharing my journey, so I regularly post photos and reels of my work on Instagram, where I also talk about art and the process behind it.
